Camera Phones and Smartphones Take Over the World – Sony Ericsson C905 and Sony Ericsson X1
This year, one company is intent on moulding the game of camera-enabled mobile phones. This manufacturer is Sony Ericsson, and they plan to dominate not just the universe in top-end camera phones, but low-end handsets, as well!
Camera phones through the ages – the Sony Ericsson legacy
It’s rather apt, when you think about it, that Sony Ericsson are the ones at the forefront of the coming paradigm shift in camera-equipped mobile phones. After all, it was them who began it all, way back in 2002. Let’s remember, they were the first manufacturer to unveil a Mobile Phone with a camera in it, within the British marketplace. That mobile was the Sony Ericsson P800, but it didn’t get the mass market penetration Sony Ericsson would’ve liked, because an amazingly (compared to other mobile phones at the time) top-end smartphone. However, their most iconic handset ever was soon to be unleashed, and that one WOULD get great market penetration. That was the Sony Ericsson T610, and it changed the playing field. Here you had a handset that stood out amongst the crowd of all the rival mobile phones it was up against. It was small, it was sexy, and the country ADORED it. Plus, let’s not forget that the Sony Ericsson T610 also had an integrated camera, and that it was really the first mobile to hit the wider market, and make people say, ‘Hang on, we really do want mobile phones with cameras in!’
But before we look at the top-end camera phone from Sony Ericsson, let’s take a look at another phone with a camera, one that fits very firmly into the smartphone sector: the stunning Sony Ericsson X1.
Sony Ericsson X1 – mixing up the camera with other features

Sony Ericsson C905 – the ultimate camera phone?
